Lily and Julia, two of the stars of the U13 Blues, are just about to
be delisted from the Club and the U13 Blues. Julia, who plays like a veteran in only her first season of football, is a stawlart in defence, while Lily, who is truly a veteran in her third season for the Club, holds down key positions as full forward and centre half forward, constantly showing the boys what dedication and courage are all about - at training and on game day. But the girls are about to reach the age when they are required to find an all-female team to play in. Best of luck girls, and thanks from everyone at FJFC. You've contributed
so much to the Club and the team.

No one can deny it's been a tough season for the U12 Blue 2s but, equally, everyone who's asked to describe this group of Fitzroy Junior footballers comes up with the same description: All heart. The season started shakily, the wins have been few and far between, but this team keeps improving week by week, and optimism is high for a far better season in 2009. And that's what the coach, and the boys, are working towards. On Sunday the squad put in a great game - undoubtedly the best for the season - tackling hard, working as a team, achieving the one percenters that mark a truly courageous outfit, and heartening all their supporters with the improvements they've made, and what they can look forward to. Great effort, U12 Blue 2s! |

The Colts Section 3s were impressed by the coaching of their
opponents on Sunday.
In a tight clash, the Roys reversed the trend to challenge Warrandyte for the
lead in a gutsy 3rd quarter comeback.
Undeterred, the Bloods' young coach, James, set a strict standard for his players
which was appreciated and applauded by the Fitzroy bench.

coach of the U15 2s) is on his way home from hospital.

Roys reach high at Ramsden Street... |
...and dig deep and low to win the ball and the moral victory |
|
|
|
Never ones to shy away from the contest, the U11 Browns go in, and go in hard |
A single focus, eyes for the ball |
Sitting on the bench just doesn't do it...the boys - and the spectators - lose concentration |
Caught! A perfect tackle |

Fitzroy's alliance with the Brisbane Lions Football Club continues to
grow. They help us with training and education. BLFC are our partners, along with FFC, Fitzroy Reds and CoY in plans to redevelop the community facilities at Fitzroy's historic home, Brunswick Street Oval. Coming up on July
25 is a chance to be a part of the living
and growing connection between BLFC and Fitzroy.

At each home match U12 Gold mascot Owie Terrens (and son of coach Dick) runs the scoreboard. And whether his team comes out on top or misses the four points, Owie can always be relied on to multiply perfectly by six and display his winning smile when adding up the score for the Roys. This week, the U12 Golds comfortably beat Ivanhoe, so plenty of smiles from Owie Terrens. Owie is looking forward to playing with the U10s next year, but he can't wait to officially don the guernsey, so every week proudly wears his Fitzroy jumper as he accompanies his dad to the games and training.
Recording another victory for his favourite team and club, young Owie Terrens (right) poses in front of the scoreboard he takes charge of each week. And below, the U12 Golds leave the field, ecstatic after another great win. |
